Professional Full-Frame Production System
The PXW-FX9 includes 12G/6G-SDI and HDMI outputs for 4K video, a 3G-SDI output for HD monitoring, plus genlock and timecode support for multicamera setups. Its Fast Hybrid AF system provides accurate autofocus with face detection and 561 detection points. Advanced image stabilization uses the camera’s internal gyroscope metadata to help create smooth handheld footage in post-production.

6K Exmor R CMOS Sensor
The FX9’s oversampled full-frame 6K sensor supports recording in DCI 4K, UHD, and HD resolutions. Powerful image processing with debayering and down-sampling delivers image quality beyond conventional Super 35mm sensors. The back-illuminated Exmor R design improves sensitivity and reduces noise while providing a wider angle of view and shallower depth of field.
15+ Stops of Dynamic Range
The FX9 offers exceptional 15+ stops of dynamic range and supports Dynamic HDR and Hybrid Log-Gamma mode. Operators can focus on framing while relying on the camera to capture highlights, shadows, and fine details with 4K 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording.
S-Cinetone
S-Cinetone is the FX9’s default look, tuned for today’s content creators with rich midrange colors, attractive facial tones, and a softer tonal response inspired by Sony’s VENICE digital cinema camera.
Dual Base ISO
Dual base ISO 800/4000 helps maintain image quality across bright and low-light environments. ISO 800 is ideal for typical documentary applications, while ISO 4000 excels in dim interiors, early morning, and evening shoots. The extended ISO range is 320 to 102,400.
3D LUTs and HLG
Customize the FX9 look by importing and storing up to 16 LUT files for preview. The camera can record HDR in either S-Log3 or HLG. S-Log3 gives maximum dynamic range and color grading flexibility, while HLG supports fast delivery without additional grading.
